Meet Aweys Ali
Aweys Ali is a Somali-American community leader and the founder of Afrikana Community Center Inc., established in 2025 in Louisville, Kentucky.
After coming to the United States in 2004 and settling in Atlanta, Georgia, Aweys relocated to Louisville, Kentucky in 2008, where he experienced firsthand the challenges that many immigrant families face — language barriers, lack of access to essential services, and the difficulty of navigating a new country without support.
Over the years, he saw a consistent pattern: strong families struggling not because they lacked effort or determination, but because they lacked access, guidance, and culturally understanding support.
