Afrikana Hope Initiative

Our flagship program connecting the most vulnerable African families to essential support — food assistance, crisis referrals, and critical resources.

Aweys Ali - Founder

Meet Aweys Ali

Aweys Ali is a Somali-American community leader and the founder of Afrikana Community Center Inc., established in 2025 in Louisville, Kentucky.

After coming to the United States in 2004 and settling in Louisville in 2008, Aweys experienced firsthand the challenges that many immigrant families face — language barriers, lack of access to essential services, and the difficulty of navigating a new country without support.

Over the years, he saw a consistent pattern: strong families struggling not because they lacked effort or determination, but because they lacked access, guidance, and culturally understanding support.

"

I didn't want to just see the problem anymore — I wanted to be part of the solution.

— Aweys Ali, Founder

That vision led to the creation of Afrikana Community Center — a space built to connect, support, and uplift African families across Louisville. Today, Aweys continues to lead the organization with a focus on service, integrity, and long-term impact.

Serving with purpose. Building with integrity. Growing with the community.

Why Afrikana Hope?
