Afrikana Community Center Inc. is a Louisville-based nonprofit created to help African immigrant and refugee families navigate life, access trusted resources, preserve cultural identity, and build long-term opportunity. Afrikana welcomes local families and community members from every background while maintaining a culturally responsive focus on the African diaspora.
Founder Aweys Ali arrived in the United States in 2004 and made Louisville home in 2008. After more than a decade of grassroots service, he founded Afrikana in 2025 so families would have a trusted place to connect, find guidance, strengthen their voices, and thrive together.

Aweys Ali is a Somali-American community leader, author, and founder of Afrikana Community Center Inc. He arrived in the United States in 2004 and settled in Louisville in 2008.
